Thank you to Alan Jones for answering our recent call for updates.
He writes "In January 1957 I went on the Penn State Outing Club ski
trip to Allegheny State Park in Western New York. Before leaving Roy
Rossman asked if I had a date for the Pledge Dance scheduled for
February 7. I replied that, as of now, I didn't but maybe I would when
I got back from the ski trip. On the trip I had my eye on Barbara Grest
but she was hanging around with a guy named Charlie Barb. (Just think
what her name would be if she married him!) On the last night we were
doing folk and square dancing in the lodge and Charlie excused himself
to go to the rest room. I went over and asked Barb to dance. After the
dance I got up enough nerve to ask her to the dance. She accepted and
the rest is history. We both graduated from Penn State on June 7, 1958
and were married on Monday, June 9, 1958. And still married after 51
years!
I found out later that Barbara was accused of going on the trip in
search of a husband! This is the group photo taken by Joe Patten.
Barbara and I are in the back row. I have extracted our photo and
included a zoomed in version."
